Total lunar eclipse 2022 16/MAY/2022

The total lunar eclipse for 2022 will take place on May 16, 2022, and will be visible from most parts of the world, including Asia, Australia, Africa, Europe, and America.

The partial lunar eclipse will last for around two hours and 30 minutes before the Earth’s shadow completely covers the Moon turning it red.

The Earth’s shadow will completely cover the Moon during this event, making it appear red or orange as light from the sun passes through Earth’s atmosphere and is filtered out by particles such as dust and air molecules.

The total lunar eclipse is also known as a blood moon because of its reddish hue. The color occurs when sunlight passes through Earth’s atmosphere and reflects off the Moon’s surface.

In totality, only those parts of the Moon directly under Earth’s umbral shadow will be darkened by it; all other aspects of our satellite will have some sunlight falling upon them from one side or another. Even during totality itself, there is still some sunlight reaching parts of the Moon.
